Johnson narrowly broke the record of 4:40.95, set by freshman Adrian Moreno (Mesquite) at the Houston Invitational on Jan. 27. Sophomore Cris Santana (Mansfield) finished one place behind Johnson with a time of 4:43.52.

Moreno also established the school records in the indoor 800m (2:04.51) and 1000m (2:50.08) at the Lubbock meet.

Jared Lautenslager, running unattached for the indoor season, finished fourth in his mile heat with an overall time of 4:23.01.

Hill College Head Cross Country and Track Coach Greg Lautenslager said this was the final indoor meet of the season for his group, and his athletes will now be training hard for the start of the outdoor season, which commences on March 9 at The University of Texas at Arlington.
